Describe your organization and its mission:

The Gant School of Music and Jazz (GMAJ) is designed to help students especially those in economic de-stress, learn and appreciate music. Our mission is to serve as an avenue for all students of the community to gain a place in the world of music by providing access to high quality instruments and instruction.

Why do you love working for your organization?

This organization is uniquely designed to help people who want to choose music as an option but don’t have the resources to do so. I love being able to give students the materials that I wish were available to me as a young musician. Giving lessons or a good instrument will dramatically change the outcomes and abilities of these musicians. It’s literally life altering.

What does being a member of the Future Fund Class of 2020 mean to your organization?

This membership will allow me to both learn how to be a better executive director and leader for the GMAJ and grow ties with the non-profit world of the city. Not to mention raise the profile of the organization. The impact this is already having is amazing. Definitely grateful.

What do you expect to gain from the Future Fund 10 experience?

This experience is already giving me access to incredible individuals in the city. It’s aiding my development as a leader and empowering us all to be are best selves.

What are you most nervous about with the FF 10 process?

Of course it’s the competition on stage. I think I am most nervous about what happens after the process is over.

When you're not working, where could we find you?

I am a professional musician and music teacher. When I am not doing anything music related I like reading, running, and spending time with family.
