Meet Kathryn Hubert

Compass Greensboro

“Career, community, connection”

How did your organization start?

We were founded in 2020 for the primary purpose of providing life, social, and vocational skills to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through coaching, connecting, training, and networking.

What issue are you addressing?

The unemployment gap for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Where did your passion for this cause come from?

We believe in the intrinsic value of every human and are fighting against the marginalization of people groups, specifically adults with disabilities.

Why is your work so important for Greensboro?

We expect and aim to change the way our community trains, interviews, and hires adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities so that our world becomes a more inclusive and diverse place, accepting and embracing of all people!

What are you most excited for as it relates to FF10?

The opportunity to meet and interact with amazing Greensboro organizations and to learn directly from business coaches who have years of experience!

What have you already learned from the process?

We have already been connected to other like minded people and organizations, which is broadening our reach and has provided a lot of encouragement as we are getting started.

What do you hope to get out of FF10?

Hopefully a grant! :) But, the time with our coaches has been a big help and I think will continue to be. Starting up an organization is hard, and having people who know more than we do has been really reassuring.
