Describe your organization and its mission:

The Interactive Resource Center is an innovative day center for people experiencing homelessness. We offer showers and laundry services, phone and mail services, medical services, job search assistance, a computer lab, Job Skills classes, GED classes, Veteran's Support, and various other supports for individuals who have found themselves experiencing homelessness.

Why do you love working for your organization?

Working at the IRC fulfills my dream of serving those who are otherwise overlooked by society by finding ways to make basic needs, like showers and medical care, more attainable for people who are marginalized and living in poverty, or who may be experiencing homelessness. I firmly believe in our mission to restore dignity and respect to every person that walks through our doors and find myself happy to come into work, because there is such an amazing purpose behind what we do everyday at the IRC, no matter what your role is.

What does being a member of the Future Fund Class of 2020 mean to your organization?

Being a member of the FF Class of 2020 is truly an honor for the IRC! We're so excited to be a part of Future Fund this year and know that whether we're selected or not, this a great opportunity for our organization in that so many people will hear about the work that we're doing at the IRC and hopefully will want to join in on the fun, whether by charitable giving, or volunteering their time.

What do you expect to gain from the Future Fund 10 experience?

I hope to gain new strengths, especially in the area of public speaking! My role is in fundraising and community engagement, so this can only be a good thing for me! I hope to also learn more about the other members of the 2020 FF class and perhaps establish some new collaboration between organizations.

What are you most nervous about with the FF 10 process?

Similar to what I hope to gain, I am most nervous about the public speaking aspect of the event and cannot stress enough the gratitude that I already have for the individuals who will be coaching us!

When you're not working, where could we find you?

When I'm at home I'm usually relaxing with my dogs Lucy and Sam and my boyfriend. I love to bake, gardening, and going for walks on the Haw River trails with my pups. I live in Greensboro, so I do love a nice craft beer from one of the many breweries and can often be found at Joymongers Brewery for pub trivia!
