Describe your organization and its mission:

The Montagnard Dega Association (MDA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 1987 by the first Montagnard elders to arrive in North Carolina.

Our mission is to unite and strengthen the fraternal ties of all persons of Montagnard heritage, to create a positive environment for all to meet, to build safe, healthy communities, to inspire education and to preserve our cultural heritage.

MDA works in cooperation with other mutual assistance organizations and community groups, local, state and national government, churches, and refugee resettlement agencies throughout North Carolina. North Carolina Division of Social Services recognizes MDA as a refugee service provider and MDA serve all refugees/immigrants.

Why do you love working for your organization?

I wear multiple hats at our agency from teaching to case managing to working with youths. One of my passions is working with the youths from the community through the Montagnard American Organization (MAO). I was one of the founders for the MAO, and now we under the MDA's umbrella to continue our works. We just hosted our first-annual fundraising gala, and we have many youths from the community who are involved in this event. I have organized and coordinated many events with MDA/MAO, and I love working with our youths.

What does being a member of the Future Fund Class of 2020 mean to your organization?

Being a part of FF Class of 2020 will give me the opportunity to network with other organizations as well as learn them and learn from the coach. I represent our MDA/MAO youths when it come to anything public speaking, so I am looking forward to learn and obtain as much of information from the training session as I can.

What do you expect to gain from the Future Fund 10 experience?

I hope to gain knowledge on being a professional speakers, I want to learn and inspire other with the work that I do. I want to win the money, so that our organization can do more to help the community.

What are you most nervous about with the FF 10 process?

I am actually not nervous about the process, but I might be nervous on April 21st. I am looking forward to learning from everyone.

When you're not working, where could we find you?

When I am not working, I am at the gym every evening then home with my three kids or taking them to different activities. I also love to attend other agencies events and support their cost.
