Describe your organization and its mission:
Youth Villages is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and families live successfully. Our Evidentiary Family Restoration™ (EFR) approach involves intensive work with the child and family, a focus on measuring outcomes, keeping children in the community whenever safely possible, and providing accountability to families and funders. The EFR approach produces lasting success for children with success rates twice that of traditional services at one-third the cost.
Why do you love working for your organization?
I love our staff. I love our kids. Most importantly, I love that Youth Villages has the best measurable outcomes in the child welfare space. I love that we are serving troubled youth and families, but also helping to reshape the entire child welfare system in our country. #Change #DoWhatWorks
What does being a member of the Future Fund Class of 2020 mean to your organization?
It’s an honor to be a finalist and included among such worthy organizations. Regardless of what the final outcome is FF10 gives us an opportunity to share the Youth Villages story, but more importantly to highlight the ongoing needs of our most vulnerable group of young people - youth aging out of the foster care system.
What do you expect to gain from the Future Fund 10 experience?
Personally, I hope to become a more dynamic and polished presenter. Professionally, I hope to create new relationships with those in the community who care about supporting what works. Finally, my biggest hope, is the Youth Villages and more importantly, the issue of youth aging out of the foster care system is brought further into the forefront of people’s minds.
What are you most nervous about with the FF 10 process?
Hmmmmm .....that Youth Villages will remain the best kept secret in the nonprofit world even after many more have heard our story.
When you're not working, where could we find you?
Running, snowboarding, golfing, and playing music. Though not all at the same time.
